Kachhi Community Development Programme (KCDP)

has been supported by Digni and Wycliffe Norway since 2007. The first phase of the project was completed in 2017 and second phase started in 2018. The programme focuses on three thematic areas: education, health and human rights.  
So far 50 Kachhi villages have been part of the project. This new project period will add another 50 villages, and the total number of beneficiaries will reach 14.240. The villages will be served through education, saving groups, basic healthcare, midwifery, and rights awareness. 

A. Education Programme: 
The project ensures the Kachhi community‛s ability to preserve their language through developing Kachhi language literature and ensuring that mother tongue education is available. A considerable range of printed material was developed to keep the culture and language alive. At present KCDA has fifteen primary schools with four hundred and fifty (450) students studying. The KCDA literacy team organized a teachers‛ training for the primary school teachers. These schools are working in Tando Allahyar District.  

B. Health Awareness Program: 
There is a significant change in the behavior of the community women and children after the start of Health and Hygiene (HH) awareness sessions in the villages and schools. KCDA plans to motivate women and children at the villages and community levels through different Participatory Rural Appraisals (PRAs) in the future.  
On annually basis the KCDA health staff conducted a health survey among children in the fifteen primary schools. The purpose of the survey was to check the physical growth of the children year by year. During the period 2013 till 2017, KCDP trained 77 midwives who are now working in their communities. 

C. Women Self Help Group:  
In 2012, KCDA took the initiative of doing self-help approach. The initiative started with a short meeting with Ms. Kiran Shahzadi (SHG National Coordinator, KNH) at the end of April 2012. Initially KCDA targeted only one district Tando Allahyar but at the present KCDA is working in Mirpurkhas district as well.  
There are 50 women SHGs functioning successfully with 621 active members. The total saving is 155,010/=. The women are getting the loan from their SHG and started small business. 15 women got the loan from SHG and started their own small business. Women got confidence by the SHG and now they take decisions in their groups. 

D. Advocacy & Lobbying:-  
KCDA organized the session with the Kachhi community regarding the issue of the early child marriages. For this issue, KCDA advocacy staff attended the network meetings with other partners during the year. These local partners made a lot of effort and reached local government institutions. In the advocacy program six clusters were formed and 90 community people are voluntarily working with KCDA. 10 area animator are working in three districts.  

E. Anti-Corruption Training Program:- 
The purpose of this course is to raise awareness among the leadership and personnel of development organizations and other departments about the dangers of corruption, to subsequently provide practical methods for defending against and dealing with corruption’s influences and affects, but also to maintain its integrity and efficient functioning. The project will help the organisations and other departments of set a positive example for our community, society and country. 




The KCDA has been working for the Kachhi community for the last 10 years and has developed trust and strong relations with the Kachhi tribe in Sindh. The KCDA is registered under the Societies Act 1860(Reg. No. 4153). The organization’s program operate in Mirpurkhas, Tando Allayer, Hyderabad and Sanghar districts of Sindh.
